Appalachia Reading Challenge

This is a challenge to read books set in the “Appalachian” states in America, in a curious, beautiful, abundant in natural resources, cultural region in the eastern US, that roughly stretches from southern New York to northern Georgia. This challenge is without a deadline, and I have the goal to read books set in the following 13 states: West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

I. West Virginia: The Night of the Hunter [1953] by Davis Grubb – ★★★★★

II. New York: The Editor [2019] by Steven Rowley – ★★1/2

III. Alabama: Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café [1987] by Fannie Flagg – ★★★★

IV. North Carolina: Serena [2008] by Ron Rash – ★★★★1/2

V. Virginia: Miracle Creek [2019] by Angie Kim★★★★
